Food Screening EMR

The project Food Screening EMR will work on the development and implementation of a revolutionary technology for the detection of nutrients in crops. In this cross-border public-private collaboration, Maastricht University will team up with academic partners in the region (RWTH Aachen, Universiteit Hasselt and ULiège) as well as some SMEs with key expertise in sensor development (IMEC vzw, Yookr BV and ZUMOLab GmbH) to create an industrial demonstrator that will allow end-users to measure the nutritional content of their crops and create healthier food products. To ensure optimal implementation into the agricultural industry, Nunhems BASF Vegetable Seed will act as a partner and key representative of the user group that steers the technological developments in this project.

The European Union invests 953,040 Euro of the European Regional Development fund through Interreg Va Euregion Meuse Rhine to increase the economic competitiveness of food and feed SMEs in the region. To further illustrate the potential economic impact, regional and national governments (Provincie Limburg, Ministry Economic Affairs and Climate, Land NRW and Wallonia) provide an additional 377,000 Euro in cofinancing.

Are you interested in the project or do you want to join the User Group to learn how to use this technology and/or ask for advice on how to create healthier crops and make food and health claims for the project, visit the updates on this website and feel free to contact us!
